There comes a time, when your motivation for workout drops to the floor! Wether your tiered, exhausted, havn´t got time or simply hate working out. It´s been like that for me for the past three weeks, and I had to do something to boost up my motivation. I thought I should give you some of my tips that I find helpful, to get back your motivation. So here it goes:
1. Do something you like
For me, this is definitely the most important step! If I don´t find any joy in what I do, I will give up after a few weeks. For instant; I love boxing, running outside and lifting weights. Experience with different activities and workouts so you can find out what you like. If it´s fun, you most likely won´t skip it right?

2. Find a workout buddy!
Sometimes the hardest step, is the first. Just ask Woody Allen: “8o percent of success is showing up”. Having a workout buddy is therefor not a bad thing, as you can push and motivate each other! It´s also a lot more fun to have someone by your side while working out! Why don´t you find out what you and your partner likes, and then do it together!!?

3. Variation
Try mixing up your workouts, so you don´t get bored easily! Do most of what you like, and less of what you don´t like as much. There is no point in using your time and energy on something that doesn`t give you any joy in return!
4. Success stories
There is a reason I LOVE watching “the biggest loser”. It´s so inspirational, and it gives me the feeling where everything is possible. Success stories in general gives me a lot of motivation, wether it´s through TV, blogs or magazines. A long as it´s honest and believable, I´m sold.
5. Reward
Have you worked out hard this week, lost 5 pounds or reached a short-term goal? Reward yourself! But not with the unhealthy food you like, that´s a no no! Take a trip to the spa, go shopping or just do something to treat yourself. Be proud of what you´ve accomplished and take advantage of it!

6. That good feeling
The feeling after you´ve worked out is the best! You´re tired, but in a good way and you feel good about yourself. Focus on that feeling if you are having a bad day. Think about how good it will feel after wards!
7. 4 percent of your day
I´ve read somewhere that exercising one hour a day, equals only 4 percent! If you don´t feel you have the time, make time. There is always a time for a workout, it´s only a question about prioritizing. Think about how quick it will be, before it´s over. “It´s only an hour”!

8. Before and after
Take a before-picture of yourself that you can see every day, which will remind you what you´re fighting for. Take new pictures along the way, and see the difference!
9. Logging your workouts/program
This has given me a lot of motivation in the last couple of days! I´ve written down my short-term and long-term goals, workout program for the week and logging my workouts after I´m down. For instant, when I´m lifting weights, it´s very motivating to actually see the progress on paper as I go. Also, having a program to follow is gold. I´m under the impression that if you workout becomes a habit, the rest will follow

10. Personal trainer
A personal trainer isn´t cheap, but If you are willing to pay for it, why not? They can give you the extra motivation and knowledge you need. If you don´t have the money for it, ask friends with knowledge about fitness and health or read about it as much as you can.
11. Goals
As I mentioned on 9, I´ve written down short-term and long-term goals. I my case, I´m more motivated if I have a goal I want to reach. For example; my long-term goal is to loose another 11 pounds, and one of my short-term goal is to lift 50 kg in squats. That way, when I´m done working out I´m one step closer to reaching a goal!

12. High expectations
It often takes time before you can see changes in your body, so don´t give up right away! If you havn´t worked out for a long time, don´t start out 6 days a week. Start slow in the beginning, and increase as you go. That way you most likely will keep up the good work in the long hall.
13. Buy new workouts clothes
What better way to start a workout, then with new colorful clothes? I definitely look more forward to exercising when I´ve bought my self a new top or tights thats comfortable. When you look good, you feel good!
14. Music
Download new music to your ipod often, and work out like never before! When I´m running or lifting weights I push even harder when I´m listening to music that gets me pumped up!

15. Imagine
Imagine what your body will look like after you´ve reached some goals, or think about how much better and healthier your body is inside. To visualize what you want, get´s you one step closer!
16. A day off
If you´re like me and have a sweet tooth, don´t overdo it by keeping yourself away from candy and unhealthy food for several months at a time. My tip is to have one day a week, where you can allow yourself whatever you want! But, remember: don´t eat everything you see just because it´s your day of. Moderation is the key! If you´re having a hard time, just make yourself healthy snacks instead that taste sweet. Such as fruit and greek yoghurt, delicious!! :)
